Buckeye Combine Results

Malcolm Jenkins
The best 40 time Jenkins could produce was 4.52. He still produced well in most drills, but the speed issue has started to haunt him, and could make him the #2 DB selected in the draft. He’s still a first round pick, maybe even top ten, but his 40 time will drop him at least 3-5 spots.
Donald Washington
Washington’s decision to enter the draft is still a mystery to me, but there he was in Indy, and he showed up big. 45-inch vertical leap, wow. 11’3 broad jump, wow. Washington definitely proved he was one of the better athletes in the draft, but that still won’t push him higher than the fourth round.
James Laurinaitis
Laurinaitis didn’t vault himself into the top ten, but he was solid in the cone drills, and looked like he might be better in coverage than scouts originally thought. He still looks like a first round pick, but in the latter stages.
Marcus Freeman
Freeman did as much as Washington did for his draft status. He beat Laurinaitis on the bench press, and ran a solid 4.67 in the 40. Freeman is looking more and more like a second round draft pick.
Brian Robiskie
Robiskie did what he needed to. He ran a sub 4.5 40, and showed excellent route running and solid hands. For someone with the size and big play making ability he has, nobody is considering him a first round pick, but he should go in the middle of the second round.
Brain Hartline
He has shown himself to be a good possession receiver in the college game, and he showed those same skills at the combine. He could be a Wes Welker type in the NFL. Unfortunately, nobody drafts Wes Welker types before the fourth round.
Chris “Beanie” Wells
“Beanie” was poked and prodded by the doctors, almost as much as he was by the scouts. The injury question will most definitely keep Georgia RB Knowshon Moreno as the first selected RB. Wells did solidly in all of the drills, and still appears to be a middle of the first round selection.
Alex Boone
I imagine Boone’s interview process was extensive one, and he did show up about 15 pounds heavier than he normally is, but he performed admirably in the drills. Combined with the general offensive line malaise the Buckeyes showed, Boone is looking like a fourth or fifth round selection.
