Congratulations Evan Turner, you’ve almost won something! Turner was named a finalist for the 2009 Oscar Robertson award, given by U.S. Basketball Writers Association. He’s also a leading candidate to be Big Ten Player of the Year, an award he won’t win because Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas plays for Michigan State.

In Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology on ESPN.com, he has the Buckeyes in the tournament as a #10 seed. Is it possible that beating Butler months ago is going to be that slight edge that gets the Buckeyes in the tournament?

The Buckeyes haven’t won on the road since January 31st. Going 0-3 on the road in February.

After going 8-10 on 3-pointers against Northwestern, Jon Diebler is only 9 for his last 26.

The #4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament is still a possibility for the Buckeyes, but they have to win the last two regular season game, and then get a little bit of luck in a loss from Penn State and Wisconsin.

All of the talk nationally is that B.J. Mullens will still leave the Buckeyes at the end of the year, despite never dominating, and never proving any consistency on defense or with his rebounding. He’s still projected right around the lottery, and that makes no sense to me at all.

It looks like David Lighty will sit out the rest of the year, and it looks like he won’t lose this year of eligibility.

Who knew, but Jeremie Simmons coming off of the bench was a stroke of genius. The story is that Simmons asked to come off the bench, which is always tough to believe, but that’s the story, and it looks like his instinct was right. Simmons, who is a shoot first point guard anyway, has come in looking for his shot right away. With the pressure of running the offense for 25 minutes off of his plate, Simmons really seems to have calmed down.

William Buford is 14-51 from the field for a 27% shooting percentage in the Buckeye’s recent 1-4 skid. It seems as if coach Thad Matta has lost what at one point was a supreme amount of confidence in Buford, sitting him for long stretches of time.
